Audra and Christian wanted an Ellwood Bluffs engagement photoshoot for the second part of their couples photography session. So, we traded the grand architecture of the Santa Barbara Courthouse for rugged cliffs. Here, the golden-hour light and ocean views stretched forever. The Santa Barbara coastline never disappoints. All in all, this session was about adventure, intimacy, and soaking in the beauty of nature.
A Scenic Adventure for Their Ellwood Bluffs Engagement Photoshoot
Ellwood Bluffs was the perfect choice for Audra and Christian’s second engagement session. The mix of rolling hills, wildflowers, and breathtaking coastal views made every moment feel effortlessly romantic. Unlike the elegant, traditional vibe of their courthouse shoot, this session was all about capturing their playful, carefree energy in a stunning outdoor setting.
We started the evening with a scenic hike along the bluffs. The wide-open trails and panoramic views created an unforgettable backdrop for engagement photos. As a photographer, I love finding locations where couples can move, explore, and be themselves in front of the camera. And this location fits the bill perfectly!
A Romantic Picnic by the Ocean
After our hike, Audra and Christian set up a cozy picnic on the sand below the bluffs. This quiet, intimate moment gave them time to relax and connect while I captured the sweetest candid shots. From laughter-filled conversations to peaceful moments enjoying the scenery, their connection was at the heart of every frame.
The soft glow of Southern California’s golden hour bathed everything in dreamy light, making this part of the session feel even more magical. Plus, the moody black-and-white edits of this moment? Absolutely timeless.
Sunset Magic During This Ellwood Bluffs Engagement Photoshoot
As the sun started to set, the sky completely showed off—clouds lit up in pinks and golds, creating the most incredible backdrop for engagement photos. We took advantage of the golden hour light, capturing glowing portraits as they danced and embraced on the beach.
Audra’s flowing maxi skirt and cropped lace top added so much movement to the images, making each twirl even more mesmerizing. Then, as blue hour set in, we finished the session with a romantic romp in the waves, closing out their engagement photos with a dreamy, cinematic feel.
